Why I Closed My Business Coaching Community

Marcela Aguirre | Business Coach

I want to tell you about a big decision I made recently, one that several of my clients have told me inspired them and gave them permission to make bolder decisions in their own businesses too.

If you are perhaps going through a business transition, questioning aspects of your business, or feeling the pull towards a new business chapter, this may be helpful.

What I've Learned From Every Coaching Format

I've been coaching since 2021, first training formally, then working with paying clients from 2022. Along the way I've delivered coaching in almost every format there is: 1:1, workshops, masterminds, group programmes, and, since September 2025, a business coaching community.

Through trying so many delivery formats, I've learnt incredibly valuable lessons.

With the community, the format has been a tight, intimate group of women entrepreneurs, receiving ongoing coaching, community and support as a group, as well as 1:1 sessions woven in between. Out of every format I've tried, this hybrid model has been the one that has worked most beautifully and created the highest impact, for me and for my clients.

The group format has helped the members form deep connections, feel seen and understood, get support and feel a part of something. And the 1:1 sessions in between have allowed me to be able to do my absolute best work. I am someone who is simply unable to coach superficially, it goes against my DNA! Even when I've tried, it's entirely unnatural to me. Deep, highly personalised coaching I have found time and again is where I can help clients achieve the most impactful transformations and outcomes.

A Sharper Niche

Over these past six months, my niche has evolved into something much more specific: working with founders with ADHD, self-identified traits or who resonate with my brain-first coaching approach.

In order to properly dedicate myself to deepening my expertise there, the way this work deserves, I need to focus my energy fully in one direction rather than split it across a broader community of entrepreneurs.

Closing My Business Coaching Community

So the hard decision I've made is to close my business coaching community.

Not because it wasn't working. Quite the opposite. We built something truly special together, and every one of the ladies in that group brought so much to the table. It's been one of the best things I've ever done in my business and I've enjoyed every single step!

From August, I'll continue to focus on 1:1 coaching only, going all in on ADHD founders specifically. My intention is to create a group cohort again in 2027, this time built entirely around ADHD founders and their specific needs. I'd aim to recreate that same beautiful space and hybrid approach (intimate group and 1:1 coaching) that I now know works so well and where I can do my best work.

Why This Wasn't a Failure

I told the members earlier this week, and it's been emotional. Part of me didn't want to close it. The community gives me so much joy and fulfilment and I've continued to receive great feedback from the ladies. But it wouldn't be right to keep it open if I can no longer give it the love and nurturing it deserves.

As well as the feedback around the community and coaching itself, the members also mentioned something I genuinely wasn't expecting.

What This Taught My Clients (and Me)

Several women told me they see this as an inspiring, brave decision, one that also gives them permission to follow their own intuition, to pivot, to build their businesses and lives on their own terms rather than someone else's.

I was touched by this, and it wasn't something I had reflected on until they mentioned it. But it's so true. It's so common to get trapped in the mentality that things are fixed and that we must continue doing what's expected (even when those expectations are only coming from ourselves).

But it's also very true that we are actually entirely allowed to evolve, refine, pivot and reset if that's what we know is the right call for us. It is ok to give ourselves permission to change our mind, to make different decisions and to be adaptable.

That's not to say it's been easy. I still very much feel the loss of this chapter closing. I will really miss the strong community we've built together and our incredibly engaging group sessions and group interactions. It's even harder closing something that is actually working and that we all enjoy.

But I know, and I feel it in my heart, that the next chapter requires my full focus, to allow me to deepen my expertise around business coaching specifically for founders with ADHD, so that I can provide the value and impact they need and deserve.

What's Next

I'd love to know what this brings up for you. What have you had to let go of, in your business or your life, to make room for what's next? What did it cost you, and what did you learn?

Please write back and tell me. I always love hearing from you.

To the wonderful ladies in my community (many of whom I know read my newsletter): thank you, for being an integral part of something so meaningful to me. I hope you've found it as valuable as I have, and that you keep the beautiful connections you've made with each other. I can't wait to hear about your progress, in business and in life.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend.

With love, Marcela
